Imisi - Oluwa

The first time i heard the name, i was like "what the hell kinda name is that!?" It was my best friends-sisters-friends name. I couldn't stand the name because she was always talking about the girl. So one day i told my friend that the name irritates me - and that where is the girl from. She told me it was a Yoruba name. (I'm Yoruba by the way).

Me: "Thats impossible! ..It dosen't even sound like anything i've heard before"
Friend: "IMISI!" *(mi re mi)
She repeated loudly, emphasizing the "ami ohun" (pronunciation signs).
Me: "Ok!"
I snapped.
Me: "What does it mean?"
Friend: "It means breath"
Me: "Oh! I get it, IMISI** (do mi mi)"
I corrected her.
Me: "..Soooo.. her name is just breath?"
Friend: "Its IMISI-OLUWA (do mi mi - re mi re) or something"
she added.
Me: "breath of God!, wow what a powerful name!, i guess its not such a bad name if you pronounce it correctly, i really like it, its so refreshing!"

Friend: Whatever
